Eurobalance champions started a survey on WLB: Project Alice

Isforcoop, a regional cooperative training agency, distributed a questionnaire about work life balance to social workers from February to April this year as part of a project called Alice. Behind the project are three Italian Eurobalance champions who work for Isforcoop in different Provinces of Liguria: Savona, Genova and La Spezia.

During their cascading activity they realized that many enterprises in these provinces have developed projects funded through new legislation: Legge 8 marzo 2000, n. 53 ( Rules for maternity and paternity sustainability, healthcare rights and training ). However, most the new projects are focused on the same activities (mainly part-time and telework) and are promoted by only one SME at a time. They started to think about promoting innovative group-based projects involving co-operative enterprises, helping small companies unable to achieve a better efficiency by themselves.

This survey will provide useful data on what a social worker's life is like and what are the obstacles they have to overcome every day. It contains questions about transport from home to workplace, school schedules, healthcare services and other issues.

The main idea is to compare data coming from workers employed in different companies sharing the same location or activity sector. This could offer a valuable knowledge base to develop practices involving more than one SME at a time to offer more chances of success. If, for example, a company would benefit from a babysitting service but the cost is not suitable for their budget, knowing that two other SMEs in the area have the same need could lead to a consortium.

Questionnaires are currently under review and results will be available before the summer.
