Child Poverty and Work-Life Balance |
|
The Welsh Assembly Government recently published the Child Poverty Strategy for Wales (CPS). The CPS highlights the vital role that childcare plays in enabling parents to train or work and recognises ways of addressing in-work poverty by:
- enabling individuals to work more flexibly,
- ensuring that childcare provision is affordable and accessible,
- providing sustainable routes out of poverty through genuine career paths that have the chance of progression.
Wrexham Family Information Service is currently submitting a bid for funding to continue the work of promoting work-life balance beyond the end of the Eurobalance project. The new project will support employees experiencing in-work poverty by:
- Promoting the benefits of Work-Life Balance to employers and employees.
- Providing information on in-work support such as childcare vouchers, tax credits.
- Supporting employees to access training.
